Transport ministry proposes upgrading 184 rail crossings

The Ministry of Transport has proposed to invest VND400 billion ($15.8 million) in repairing and adding signals at 184 rail crossings to increase traffic safety.

Earlier, the ministry assigned the Vietnam Railway Authority to examine and identify lists of rail crossings nationwide that need repairs and supplementation of signals .

In 2021, the Prime Minister approved a project repairing and supplementing signals for 566 rail crossings nationwide.

The Vietnam Railway Corporation (VNR) has completed the repair and addition of signals at 382 crossings. The remaining 184 crossings have yet been repaired as the capital had not yet been unallocated.

There are currently 4,772 level crossings in the national railway network, according to the Vietnam Railway Authority.
