German climate solutions provider Viessmann Climate Solutions opened a new factory in southern Dong Nai province on June 22.

The company will combine Germany’s renowned precision engineering with Vietnamese innovation and expertise, producing water purification and heating technology for the Southeast Asia region.

Located in Long Thanh district, which boasts excellent logistics connectivity, the plant will have an experienced workforce and be close to key suppliers and the Viessmann sales team in Vietnam. By 2025, 100 employees will work at the site, with output planned at 300.000 devices within the first three years of operations. Viessmann wants to enable people in Vietnam and Southeast Asia to create an ideal feel-good climate at home to improve their health and well-being.

Mr. Alexander Ziehe, Managing Director of Southeast Asia & Oceania at Viessmann, highlighted that this is its first manufacturing facility in Vietnam and he is thrilled with the speed and professionalism with which it was completed. “Southeast Asia is a fundamental pillar in our international diversification strategy, and we are excited to develop and widen our presence in this growing market based on local expertise and a joint vision,” he explained.

“As a brand, Viessmann is not only committed to the climate; we also take the lead in creating healthy living spaces in buildings through our integrated systems and solutions,” he went on. “With this new factory, we will accelerate our brand building in the region and provide end users with the right solutions for their homes.”

Exports of water heaters and purifiers will begin soon. The project will create jobs in production, research and development, sourcing, and sales, as well as further job opportunities throughout the supply chain in Vietnam. Viessmann not only promotes German quality at the factory but also sustainable manufacturing in Vietnam, with the investment taking sustainability aspects into consideration.

According to Mr. Ralph Biermann, Technical Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Viessmann, sustainable manufacturing has been taken into account from Day 1, and Viessmann has put maximum effort into establishing future-proof sustainable manufacturing. “We not only use photovoltaic technology to generate electricity but also focus on the use of sustainable materials in our production and packaging processes,” he added.

This includes the reduction of plastic waste by using water filters on-site as well as sustainable energy generation for the site. On top of this, all Vietnam-produced solutions will be available without Styrofoam packaging or filling material, with production itself made more sustainable by the use of environmentally-friendly foaming agents for the insulation of water heaters.
