On November 29, Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines signed an agreement to promote cooperation in the field of air cargo transportation, in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz.

The two national flag carriers plan to promote cooperation in cargo transportation and research the possibility of establishing a joint venture cargo transportation company, to ensure the fast and convenient transportation of goods via their extensive networks, diverse destinations, and flight schedules.

Combining the resources of the two airlines will help them optimize their fleets and especially increase their competitiveness in the region.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Vietnam Airlines, said the cooperation between Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines is established on the basis of mutual benefit.

“Turkish Airlines will expand the scale of its transportation network to previously limited areas such as Oceania and Northeast Asia by taking advantage of Vietnam’s central geographical location as a regional goods transit point,” he added. “Furthermore, the use of a fleet of specialized cargo aircraft, connected by Turkish Airlines’ global network to 345 destinations worldwide, will pave the way for Vietnam Airlines to develop the cargo transport market in the near future. We hope this cooperation will elevate Vietnam to one of the leading cargo transit centers in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Mr. Bilal Ekşi, General Director of Turkish Airlines, affirmed that Asia is one of the most important markets for the carrier.

“We are working to continue to strengthen our presence in this high-potential region thanks to our highly specialized team and our research activities,” he said. “In an era where global aviation is shifting from West to East, these efforts are even more meaningful. I hope the cooperation with Vietnam Airlines in air cargo transportation will create a premise to expand to other opportunities in the future and bring great benefits to both countries as well as the two national flag carriers.”

In June this year, the two also signed a code-share agreement to provide more flexible and diverse flight options for passengers on routes between Vietnam and Turkey as well as neighboring areas of the two countries.

Turkish Airlines operates a fleet of 416 aircraft to 344 destinations worldwide, including 53 domestic destinations and 291 international destinations in 129 countries and territories.

Passengers can make reservations and buy tickets on Turkish Airlines and Vietnam Airlines to fly between Istanbul and Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.

These destinations are important economic, social, and tourist centers in Turkey and Vietnam.

Vietnam Airlines is currently operating more than 100 routes to 21 domestic destinations and 29 international destinations, connecting the world’s major cities with attractive tourist destinations in Vietnam.

It owns a modern fleet of nearly 100 aircraft, including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A350-900 XWB, and Airbus A321neo.
