Vietnam Airlines & Viettel cooperate in digital transformation
Two to work together during 2021-2025 period.

Vietnam Airlines and Viettel signed a strategic cooperation agreement regarding digital transformation in the 2021-2025 period on July 9.
The national flag carrier will continue to provide products and services to Viettel under a preferential trade policy, and at the same time coordinate to build a service-use ecosystem for the customers of both sides. Viettel has become a priority partner of Vietnam Airlines in freight transport, to promote the development of a logistics and e-commerce center. The two will study a plan to establish a joint venture company to strengthen and expand cooperation in the future, and at the same time contribute to promoting Vietnam’s economy and society.
Viettel will focus on technology to help Vietnam Airlines successfully complete its digital transformation process. Specifically, it will provide systems for business administration and management, digital supply chain management services, infrastructure services, and information technology. It will also build a system that helps Vietnam Airlines’ customers check-in by themselves without a staff member, and systems to help personalize customer needs.
The highlight of the cooperation deal is that Viettel will provide internet on board to enhance the flight experience.
Major General Le Dang Dung, General Director and Chairman of Viettel, affirmed that the cooperation between the two will not only offer new experiences to customers but also synergize and promote the two businesses, while contributing to the realization of national digital transformation goals.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Vietnam Airlines, said the carrier and Viettel will implement more up-to-date content and improve the capacity of both parties in the field of digital transformation and air transport. “These will help Vietnam Airlines move closer to its goal of comprehensive digital transformation and become a digital airline, and will be a stepping stone for us to overcome difficulties and prepare for recovery post-pandemic,” he added.
Vietnam Airlines and Viettel started their cooperative relationship in 2013, which has contributed to promoting production and business, improving competitiveness, and strengthening the position of the two corporations in Vietnam in the fields of aviation and technology.
