Vietnam & Australia boost science, technology and innovation cooperation

The Ministry of Science and Technology and Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade signed an MoU on June 4 on cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, which is expected to help bolster bilateral cooperation in these fields.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese, who was in Vietnam for an official visit from June 3-4.

The MoU will create the conditions needed for the two countries to share information on science, technology, and innovation and on defining common ideas and interests in strengthening the partnership.

Vietnam has become one of 17 prioritized countries in Australia’s innovation strategy. The Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy has brought about opportunities to promote cooperation between organizations in the two countries in science, technology, and innovation.

A National Strategy for Science-Technology and Innovation Development until 2030 has been issued in Vietnam, with promoting science, technology, and innovation being a leading national policy, playing a role as a main growth driver and creating breakthroughs in productivity, quality, and efficiency.
