Vietnam-China transport infrastructure connectivity to be boosted
At June 27 conference in Beijing, PM Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the special importance of strategic transport infrastructure connectivity between the two countries.
The Government News has quoted Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as emphasizing the special importance of strategic transport infrastructure connectivity between Vietnam and China while addressing a conference in Beijing on June 27.
Such kind of connectivity will not only facilitate trade and travel between the two countries but also serve as basis for the two sides to enhance connectivity with the region and the world, the Prime Minister said.
Strategic transport connectivity is also a breakthrough, which contributes to concretizing the high-level common perceptions and major orientations reached by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, the Government leader stated.
China, with its far-sighted vision, has developed a complete, comprehensive and modern road and railway system and Vietnam expects to seek China's experience and partnership for developing its strategic transport infrastructure, he said.
PM Pham Minh Chinh called on China's public and private enterprises to join major projects in such fields like transport, digital transformation, green transition, and renewable energy in Vietnam.
In transport sector, the PM urged the two sides to promptly carry out three standard gauge railway lines: Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Pong; Lang Son-Hanoi; Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hai Phong), with immediate focus on Hanoi-Lao Cai-Hai Phong line.
He also suggested China continue cooperation in urban railway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, saying that Vietnam encourages Chinese businesses to join these projects through public-private partnership model.
He urged the two countries to expand air route network, increase the frequency of flights while adopting policies to boost tourism between Vietnam and China.
Regarding road connectivity, he called on both sides to accelerate the construction of highways connecting the two countries.
The conference on Vietnam-China strategic transport infrastructure development cooperation was held as part of PM Pham Minh Chinh’s working trip to China between June 24-27, during which he attended the World Economic Forum’s 15th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, held in China’s Dalian city.
