Vietnam Ecolabel certification granted to products and services
The primary goals of the Vietnam Ecolabel for plastic packaging are to encourage sustainable production and consumption patterns.

An additional 13 brands of environmentally friendly products and services have officially received the Vietnam Ecolabel certification, according to a recent announcement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE).
The certifications, granted to various manufacturing facilities and businesses across the country between early 2024 and June 20, 2025, specifically recognize eco-friendly plastic packaging products. Each certification is valid for a period of 36 months from the date of issuance.
This initiative is implemented under the 2020 Law on Environmental Protection (Article 145), and Government Decree No. 08/2022/NĐ-CP, which mandate MAE to publish and update the official list of products and services certified with the Vietnam Ecolabel.
The primary goals of the Vietnam Ecolabel for plastic packaging are to encourage sustainable production and consumption patterns, enhance the market competitiveness of certified products, minimize solid waste and conserve natural resources through the promotion of recycling and reuse, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the production and post-consumer disposal of plastic packaging.
To earn the Vietnam Ecolabel, manufacturers must meet strict criteria for raw materials, fuels, and production processes. Key requirements include:
Packaging must be made from either bio-based plastics (for biodegradable packaging) or cleaned, recycled polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) (for recycled packaging).
All materials and additives must be free of components listed on Vietnam’s index of prohibited imports and substances.
The packaging must not use inks, dyes, pigments, or other additives that violate established health and environmental safety regulations for packaging manufacturing.
