Indian outbound travel to Vietnam in January-March up 248%.
Vietnam has emerged as a favored international destination of Indian travellers, according to a report from Mastercard's Economics Institute.
The report, titled Travel Trends 2024: Breaking Boundaries, said Indian outbound travel to Vietnam in the first three months of 2024 soared by 248% compared to 2019 levels, followed by the US and Japan, the Government News has reported.
Vietnam was the most searched tourist destination on Google this year by Indians, followed by Goa and Bali, according to the "Year in Search 2023" report.
Searches for Vietnam were highest in February and April, Google said.
In 2023, India was one of the 10 largest markets for Vietnamese inbound tourism, with 352,000 arrivals, up 1.8 times against pre-pandemic times.
Vietnam welcomed over 6.2 million foreign tourists in the first four months of 2024, a year-on-year growth of 68.3%, figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) showed.
Of the total, there were 158,000 Indian travelers, up over 41% compared to the same period last year.
