Vietnam-New Zealand targets $3 bln in trade value

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for strengthening measures to increase the Vietnam-New Zealand trade turnover to $3 billion at the earliest during a reception for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand Winston Peters in Hanoi on June 5, the Government News has reported.

The Government leader also proposed promoting the connectivity between the two economies and boosting bilateral cooperation in traditional fields, while expanding cooperation in new areas such as energy transition, green growth, digital economy and climate change adaptation.

PM Chinh affirmed that Vietnam welcomes New Zealand enterprises to  bolster investment in the country in the fields of their strengths.

New Zealand Deputy PM Peters affirmed that New Zealand attaches much importance to Vietnam’s roles in the region and the world, and the Vietnam – Zealand Strategic Partnership.

He expressed his hope that the two sides will build a new framework for their relations soon on the basis of the current sound relations.
