Vietnam Prime Minister Urges Deeper Trade Ties with South Korea

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has advocated for increased efforts to bolster stable and sustainable trade relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK), urging South Korean companies to expand their investments in Vietnam. His remarks came during a meeting with H.E. Choi Young-sam, the newly appointed Ambassador of the RoK to Vietnam.

Highlighting the necessity for strengthened political ties and collaboration across various development sectors to align with the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the Vietnamese leader emphasized South Korea's strengths in cultural industries, electronics, shipbuilding, as well as emerging sectors such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI). He also advocated for the establishment of Research and Development (R&D) hubs and technology transfer to Vietnam.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Chinh recommended broadening people-to-people exchanges and deepening collaboration in tourism, alongside welcoming more skilled Vietnamese workers to South Korea. He urged both nations to enhance cooperation on global and regional platforms, particularly seeking RoK's support for Vietnam in organizing the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 summit slated for 2025.

Expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to serve in Vietnam, Ambassador Choi Young Sam praised the recent advancements in bilateral relations and affirmed South Korea's commitment to prioritizing Vietnam in its foreign affairs agenda. He echoed Prime Minister Chinh's cooperation proposals, particularly emphasizing sustained high-level exchanges and strengthened collaboration across various sectors. The diplomat pledged to exert maximum efforts to advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during his tenure in Vietnam.
