Vietnam ranked sixth among 35 participating countries and territories at the 18th Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) held in China from May 18 to 19, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.
All seven members of the Vietnamese team won medals, including one gold and six silvers.
Based on the APIO results, four most excellent students from Vietnam will be selected to join the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in Egypt from September 1 to 8.
The APIO is an IOI-like competition for delegations within the Asian and Western Pacific regions. The first competition was organized by the Australian IOI team in 2007.
In 2023, Vietnamese students won four silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
