Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and the visiting US Secretary of State Antony Blinken reviewed positive developments in the Vietnam - US comprehensive partnership in Hanoi on April 15, including impressive growth in two-way trade, which stood at $123 billion in 2022.

They also shared the view that Vietnam and the US should continue with their cooperation and promote bilateral ties on the basis of the principles agreed to by high-ranking leaders.

Foreign Minister Son said Vietnam always considers the US a leading partner and wishes to enhance the comprehensive partnership.

He proposed the two sides step up all-level delegation exchanges and contacts this year, which marks the tenth anniversary of the comprehensive partnership, and to deepen bilateral relations.

Secretary Blinken stressed the US’s commitment to respecting Vietnam’s political institutions, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and supporting a strong, independent, self-resilient, and prosperous Vietnam.

The US will set aside more resources and budget funds, he said, to help Vietnam settle the consequences of war and boost bilateral cooperation in key fields such as trade and investment, science and technology, digital transformation, green transition, and high-quality personnel training, to serve the country’s development.
