Vietnamese, Chinese border localities enhance cooperation

The 16th meeting of the joint working committee between Vietnam's northern province of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang and Ha Giang, which border China, and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was held in Quang Ninh province on February 21.

The focus of the discussions was a shared commitment to maintaining a border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development. Key priorities include increasing exchanges and coordination, enhancing cross-border trade, upgrading bilateral border gates to international standards, and improving customs clearance capacity.

On the same day, a meeting was also held between the localities on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet).

Addressing the meeting, Secretary of Quang Ninh province’s Party Committee Vu Dai Thang proposed the localities to continue promoting existing cooperation mechanisms.

Vice Governor of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Liao Pinhu suggested enhancing cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

On the occasion, the localities signed 29 Memoranda of Understanding, strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
