11M agro-forestry and fishery production grows significantly

Seafood production estimated at over 8.75 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 2.5%

Agro-forestry and fisheries production recorded significant growth in the first 11 months of the year, according to the latest report from the General Statistics Office (GSO) of Vietnam.

Seafood production was estimated at over 8.75 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 2.5%. Of which, there were over 6.1 million tons of fish, up 2.3% year-on-year, and 1.37 million tons of shrimp, surging 4.8%.

In November alone, the country exploited more than 864,800 tons of aquatic products, up 3.4%, while harvested 576,900 tons of seafood from aquaculture.

The whole country harvested over 6.85 million ha of rice with total output estimated at 42.12 million tons of unmilled rice, soaring 1.1% year-on-year. With this result, Vietnam is likely to fulfill this year’s rice output target of 43 million tons, helping to meet domestic food demand and ensure food security.

Regarding forestry, the whole country planted 263,900 ha of forest, a year-on-year growth of 2.4%. Wood exploitation output reached over 20.85 million cu m, up 7.9% compared to the same period last year.
