9M electricity production estimated at over 232.6 bln kWh
Of the total, 115.27 billion kWh from coal thermal power plants, accounting for 49.6%.
Total electricity generation and import in the first three quarters of this year reached 232.6 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%, according to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).
In September alone, 24.56 billion kWh of electricity was generated and imported.
Of the nine-month total, 115.27 billion kWh was generated from coal thermal power plants, accounting for 49.6%, 65.57 billion kWh from hydro power plants, or 28.2%, and 30.08 billion kWh from renewable energy, or 12.9%.
During the period, EVN and relevant units began construction of 68 power projects and put 84 others into operation, including the 500 kV national power transmission line, circuit 3. The line spans 519 km from Quang Trach district in central Quang Binh province to Pho Noi in northern Hung Yen province.
