A task force set up to steer smart city development
The Task Force is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a decision on the establishment of the Inter-agency Task Force to coordinate the development and synchronized implementation of smart cities (hereinafter referred to as the Task Force).
Under Prime Ministerial Decision No. 1413/QD-TTg, dated June 30, 2025, the Task Force's members include Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung serving as its Head; Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh and Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung as deputy heads; and others being representatives from various ministries, agencies, units, and centrally-governed cities.
The duties and authorities of the Task Force are to coordinate with the People's Committees of centrally-governed cities and a number of eligible provincial People's Committees to develop a roadmap and plan for smart city development for the 2026-2030 period.
The Task Force will coordinate and guide the synchronized deployment of smart cities, according to the established roadmap and plan. At the same time, it will monitor and inspect the implementation of smart city development projects.
Furthermore, the Task Force will compile reports for the Prime Minister to seek guidance and resolve difficulties and challenges that arise during implementation, particularly on matters under the Prime Minister's authority. It will also advise and recommend to competent authorities any amendments, supplements, or improvements to relevant mechanisms, policies, and laws.
