The Airbus Vietnam Training Centre (AVTC) has received regulatory approvals from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to provide A320 Type Rating Courses.

The AVTC has two A320 Full Flight Simulators and two A320 Flight Training Devices at the Vietjet Aviation Academy (VJAA) in Ho Chi Minh City, operated by Airbus and Vietjet Air. The facilities are currently used primarily by Vietjet for recurrent and instructor training. The AVTC has plans to install a third simulator to meet Vietjet’s increasing pilot training needs.

Each A320 Type Rating Course lasts for six weeks and AVTC expects to train up to eight pilots each month.

The Airbus-managed AVTC was established in October 2018 under an agreement between Airbus and Vietjet Air. Airbus brings its processes, tools, and expertise to provide state-of-the-art training equipment as well as internationally-recognized course content. In addition to A320 Type Rating training, it also provides other flight training services, such as instructor courses.

“We are here to meet Vietjet’s pilot training needs,” said Mr. William Tauzin, General Manager of the AVTC. “After being granted all the necessary regulatory approvals by both the CAAV and the EASA, the AVTC has passed an important milestone. We are pleased to support Vietjet as it continues to invest in its future through the latest training services.”

Mr. Luong The Phuc, Vietjet’s Vice President of Training, said the VJAA is a comprehensive facility training pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and aviation staff, not only for Vietjet but also for its regional peers. “In addition to simulators and flight training devices from Airbus, VJAA is also equipped with cabin simulators, emergency training facilities, and Olympic-standard wave pools,” he added. “Vietjet is happy to continue its close partnership with Airbus in further investing in the most modern and advanced training devices to meet the development demands of Vietjet and others in the future.”
