A master plan for development of the An Giang seaport in the Mekong Delta province of the same name aims for an annual cargo throughput of 3.2 million tons by 2030, while also enabling the accommodation of vessels up to 20,000 tons and developing under a "green port" model.

Under this plan, the My Thoi terminal area is designated as the main hub, serving as the primary pillar with a projected annual cargo throughput of 2.65 to 2.80 million tons. Its infrastructure will include three general and container berths with a total length of 386 m, capable of accommodating vessels up to 10,000 tons.

Meanwhile, the Binh Long terminal area will handle a cargo volume of 250,000 to 300,000 tons per year. This area is planned to feature one 200-meter-long general berth, also with the capacity to accommodate 10,000-ton vessels.

According to the Ministry of Construction's decision on the detailed development plan for the An Giang seaport's land and water areas for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, the province's seaport system is set to undergo significant transformations, playing a crucial role in the region's cargo supply chain.

With a vision toward 2050, the plan targets an average annual cargo growth rate of 5.5% - 6.1%, alongside continued investment in the development of new berths to meet long-term growth demands.

The total investment capital required for the period up to 2030 is estimated at approximately VND508 billion (over $19.4 million). The plan requires approximately 15 ha of land and 455 ha of water surface area.
