Around $9.7 bln needed for expanding 28 expressway projects
Central and local budgets currently meeting only 8% of the capital demand.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has proposed a list of 28 expressway projects that need expansion with a total estimated investment capital of over VND247.6 trillion ($9.72 billion).
They include 23 public projects, two public-private-partnership (PPP) projects and three projects managed by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation.
Of which, over VND181.4 trillion ($7.12 trillion) is needed for the public projects, VND43.162 trillion ($1.695 billion) for the PPP projects and VND23.095 trillion ($907 million) for the remainders.
However, capital allocated from the central and local budgets to these projects so far meets only 8% of the total capital demand.
In order to have enough capital for the expansion plan, the MPI proposed the Prime Minister to consider and allow the issuance of a Government bond package worth VND165 trillion ($6.48 billion).
