Da Nang aims to become major semiconductor and AI hub by 2030

Chairman of the Da Nang city People's Committee, Le Trung Chinh, announced that the city aims to become one of Vietnam's top three centers for semiconductor design and AI application development by 2030.

The central city targets having at least 20 semiconductor design companies, one to two packaging and testing companies, 5,000 high-quality personnel in semiconductors, and 3,000 personnel in AI, with at least 20 AI products developed by Da Nang enterprises.

The semiconductor and AI industries, along with other digital technology sectors, are expected to contribute at least 35% to 40% of the city's GRDP by that year.

To achieve this goal, Da Nang has implemented special policies and numerous measures to attract investment projects and develop infrastructure and human resources in the semiconductor and AI sectors.

The city has focused on completing the first phase of the Da Nang Software Park No. 2 project and has received a government decision to establish an expanded Centralized Information Zone - Software Park No. 2. In the first quarter of 2025, Software Park No. 2 will be operational, attracting major technology corporations such as Marvel, FPT, Ubisoft, and Sovitco.

In 2024, Da Nang saw the establishment of four new semiconductor design companies; while three existing companies expanded their investments and workforce.

To date, Da Nang has nine semiconductor design companies, most of which focus on basic design processing and research applications.
