Da Nang earned VND2.2 trillion ($92 million) from accommodation and catering services in July, up 6.3 per cent against June and 30.7 per cent year-on-year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

Its tourist accommodation providers reported guests totaling 782,000 in July, a rise of 5.3 per cent from the previous month and 78.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Seven-month revenue from accommodation and catering services amounted to VND12,986 trillion ($546 million), an increase of 39.5 per cent year-on-year, while total overnight visitors were estimated at 4.32 million, up 110.3 per cent against the same period of 2022. Of note, international visitors recovered strongly, reaching 1.14 million, or 7.7-fold higher than the same period last year.

The achievements are attributed to efforts to promote tourism through the organizations of festivals and events, particularly large-scale sporting activities such as bicycle racing, beach handball championships, IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam, The Vibe Half Marathon 2023, Son Tra Heritage Marathon 2023, and, recently, the Manulife Da Nang International Marathon 2023, among others.

According to Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports Pham Tan Xu, the Manulife marathon alone attracted nearly 9,000 amateur and professional runners, including about 1,500 from 50 countries and territories worldwide.
