Five localities recorded disbursement of far less than the national average.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has asked authorities in five localities with low disbursement of public investment capital to clear all roadblocks and clarify the responsibilities of those concerned in order to accelerate the process.

He made the request on April 24 at a teleconference with Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces of Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Soc Trang, and An Giang.

For 2023, the five localities were assigned more than VND92.9 trillion ($3.9 billion) in investment capital from the State budget.

However, as of the end of March, they had disbursed only VND2.5 trillion ($104 million), equivalent to 2.74 per cent of the target set by the Prime Minister and much lower than the national average of 10.35 per cent.

Of them, the four Mekong Delta provinces reported disbursement rates of over 5 per cent while Ho Chi Minh City disbursed only 0.89 per cent, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Deputy Prime Minister Khai directed chairs of the five localities' People’s Committees to enhance their sense of responsibility, regularly examine and promote project implementation, and tackle any obstacles in a timely manner.
