Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on digital data as the cornerstone of its comprehensive digital transformation and development of a data-based economy, including natural resource and asset data, according to an official.

Speaking at a workshop titled “Leadership Vision and Action in Data Management and Digital Transformation in HCM City” on September 18, Deputy Chairwoman of the City People’s Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy stated that in 2024, the southern city is determined to effectively implement digitization and the National Assembly’s Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15, dated June 24, 2023, which grants special mechanisms and policies for the development of HCM City.

Ms. Thuy urged departments, sectors, and the People’s Committees of districts and Thu Duc City to fully understand the city’s strategic vision in data management. She emphasized the need for each entity to identify their priority objectives and actions to implement the Data Management Strategy and Digitization Roadmap for 2024-2025.

According to Director of the HCM City Digital Transformation Center Vo Thi Trung Trinh, the city’s key tasks for 2024-2025 include completing and operationalizing common digital platforms, establishing data in line with the Data Management Strategy, accelerating data integration and sharing, and completing the digital infrastructure to meet the requirements for developing a smart urban environment and digitization in the 2026-2030 period.

Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the City Department of Information and Communications, outlined four key orientations to promote data management and digital transformation from 2024-2026: digitizing administrative and governance processes, digitizing sectors, developing high-quality digital solutions and services, and effectively utilizing data.
