Domestic flight frequency at Tan Son Nhat airport to increase during Tet
Travelling demand forecast to skyrocket during Tet (Lunar New Year) period from January 14 to February 12, 2025.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has adjusted the take-off and landing times at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, one of the country’s busiest airports located in Ho Chi Minh City, to increase the frequency of domestic flights during the peak period before, during and after Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.
The adjustment will be applied from January 14 to February 12, 2025.
Specifically, the frequency of flights at Tan Son Nhat Airport will increase from 42 to 48 per hour for the time frame from 6am to 11.55pm (local time), and from 32 to 36 per hour for the time frame from midnight to 5.55am (local time).
The early adjustment is aimed at helping airlines to prepare plans to exploit flights to meet increasing travel demand of people during the Tet holiday.
The CAAV requires carriers to strictly follow the take-off and landing slots that are allotted to increase efficiency in coordinating and using the number of flights and ensure safety, security and service quality.
Vietnam Airlines Group, which includes Vietnam Airlines, budget carrier Jetstar Pacific and Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO), said it will supply over 414,000 extra seats from January 27 to February 26, 2025 to serve increasing travel demand.
In September, the Vietnam Airlines Group's carriers started to initially sell 1.5 million seats on domestic flights for the Tet period.
