The draft Law on Data, submitted to the 15th National Assembly’s ongoing 8th sitting, outlines  regulations on the building and development of the National Data Center.

Comprising 7 chapters and 67 articles, the draft law covers, among others,  data building, development, processing, management, and administration, application of data technology, data development fund, a national integrated database, and data-related services.

Government Resolution No 175/NQ-CP, approved on October 30, 2023, sets a deadline for the operation of the National Data Center no later than the fourth quarter of 2025. The center will serve as a hub for data storage, aggregation, analysis, and coordination, providing infrastructure for ministries, agencies, and localities nationwide.

It will contribute to Vietnam's efforts to keep pace with other nations in digital economy development and ensure successful integration into the global digital economy.

The drafting of the Law on Data is crucial for comprehensively addressing the content and tasks outlined by the government in the digital transformation process. The law will enhance the efficient use of information within databases for State management and socio-economic development, while strengthening the management of personal and non-personal data to ensure information security and safety.

The Ministry of Public Security believes that the Law on Data will create consistency and coherence in the effective use of data for state management and socio-economic development. The law, upon approval by the National Assembly, will support the development of e-government, reform and reduction of administrative procedures, and ultimately contribute to socio-economic development.

The Ministry of Public Security emphasizes the urgent need to complete legal frameworks and regulations regarding data development and application in state management and socio-economic development. This will create conditions for all citizens  to benefit from the digital transformation process.
