Durian exports harvest $1.32 bln in 1H
The export revenue forecast to hit $3 bln this year.
Durian exports harvested $1.32 billion in the first six months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 45%, figures from the Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association (Vinafruit) showed.
Export prices of durian have skyrocketed to VND110,000-115,000 ($4.3-4.5) per kg.
Exports of durian account for 65% of Vietnam’s total fruit exports.
China remained the top export market of Vietnamese durian with an export revenue of $1.22 billion, up 46% year-on-year and accounting for 92.4% of the total durian export value.
It was followed by Thailand with $47 million, a year-on-year surge of 90.5%.
Other key export markets include Japan, Cambodia, South Korea, Taiwan (China) and the US.
Durian export turnover is expected to hit $3 billion in 2024, according to the Vinafruit.
In 2023, exports of this product earned $2.2 billion.
