First solar-powered balcony system to be installed in Vietnam

The first solar-powered balcony system in Vietnam will be installed at a residential building in Ho Chi Minh City.

This is part of the 'Balcony Solar System for Vietnam’ (BSS4VN) initiative jointly developed by the German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ), Phuc Khang Corporation, and other partners.

The initiative was official launched in HCM City on June 19.

Inspired by Germany’s successful adoption of balcony solar systems, the model offers an easy-to-install, cost-efficient alternative to rooftop solar. In 2024, over 800,000 systems were installed across Germany.

Under the project, around 100 balcony solar systems will be installed in HCM City from June 2025 to April 2027.

The project is expected to help promote renewable energy solutions in urban areas in Vietnam.
