FPT Medicare, the medical unit of FPT Telecom, and Japan’s Nipro Corporation signed a strategic cooperation agreement on December 11 for innovative and hi-tech medical devices.

Under the agreement, FPT Medicare is responsible for distributing the Nipro Premier Alpha blood glucose meter at pharmacy networks and medical equipment outlets around Vietnam. In particular, the meter will be available directly at more than 1,600 Long Chau pharmacies and distributed to 4 million households in the FPT Telecom ecosystem. This is an advantage of scale that is greatly appreciated by the two corporations, with the desire to provide solutions for at least 1 million diabetes patients, representing 20 per cent of the market share in Vietnam within the next three years.

In the modern medical context, with people’s healthcare needs increasing, those with chronic ailments such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease are not only interested in examination and treatment at the hospital but also want to be more proactive in managing their health, contributing to improving the quality of life for themselves and their families.

The trend of using health monitoring devices connected to smart technology platforms is therefore increasing, providing complete information and displaying a comprehensive picture of the user’s health status.

At the signing ceremony, Ms. Nhu Y, General Director of Nipro Sales Vietnam Co., Ltd., said it wants to develop chronic disease healthcare products for Vietnamese people, to contribute to improving quality of life and reducing the burden of medical costs. The cooperation recognizes the major efforts the two companies made in launching a set of smart blood glucose monitoring solutions for diabetics.

“Nipro is committed to providing high quality blood glucose measuring devices using Japanese technology, and the new generation enzyme FAD-GDH combined with advanced technology CoreSignalᵀᴹ/CodeSensᵀᴹ ensures accurate and reliable results according to EN standards ISO 15197:2015, thereby helping Vietnamese people suffering from diabetes feel secure and live a healthy life,” Ms. Nhu Y said.

Similarly, Mr. Phan Minh Hai, Director of FPT Medicare, said it will maximize its distribution network to provide products to consumers at optimal cost. “We will also provide smart health monitoring applications to meet needs in advanced healthcare, helping Vietnamese people feel secure to start their day,” he added.

This cooperation marks a major milestone in the field of smart medical device development. For the first time, a comprehensive healthcare application for people with diabetes has been born. With FPT Medicare, patients will receive a recommended measurement schedule suitable for their specific condition. The FPT Medicare application will thereby provide a comprehensive picture of the disease through blood sugar reports. This information can be easily shared with caregivers, especially the medical team, when required. This is an important element in helping patients limit the progression of complications and improve their quality of life.
