Hai Phong City secures nearly $200 mln from Chinese firms

In addition to granting investment registration certificates to Chinese enterprises, several memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation were also signed.

At an investment promotion conference  held by northern Hai Phong city in Shenzhen (China) on August 7, the city's authorities  granted investment registration certificates to seven projects worth a combined $190 million.

Accordingly, Flat (Vietnam) Company Limited, a subsidiary of Zhejiang-based Flat Glass Group, will invest an additional $50 million into its photovoltaic glass production project at Hai Phong's Deep C Industrial Park, bringing its total investment to $350 million.

Vietnam Ways Technology Company Limited plans to invest $15 million in the production of high-tech electronic components, and CFL Holdings Limited will allocate $10 million for the manufacturing of plastic flooring, both in Deep C Industrial Park.

Meanwhile, Yuekai Machinery Manufacturing Company Limited will inject an additional $35 million into the city's An Duong Industrial Park for vehicle component manufacturing and assembly, increasing its total investment to $55 million.

Autel Vietnam Company Limited will augment its investment by $58 million for its vehicle diagnostic tools manufacturing project in An Duong Industrial Park.

HMT (Hai Phong) New Technical Materials Company Limited will contribute an extra $12 million to its vehicle airbag manufacturing project, raising its total investment in An Duong Industrial Park to $100 million.

Vietnam Precision Craft Component Technology Company Limited is set to invest $10 million in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park to produce industrial tools.

Additionally, the Haiphong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA) signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with various Chinese firms to further investment. HEZA and Vietnam Exquisite Power Technology Company Limited signed an MoU for an additional $100 million investment in a project to produce batteries for laptops and phones in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park. Another MoU was signed with Shenyue Joint Investment Company Limited to promote Chinese investments in Hai Phong and establish an industrial real estate consultation center in the city.

Deep C Industrial Zones and CFL Holdings Limited signed an MoU to increase investment in Deep C Industrial Park to $100 million. Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park signed an MoU with a Chinese partner for a $12-million phone components project.

Mr. Le Tien Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Hai Phong City’s Party Committee, emphasized the significance of  the city’s first investment promotion event in China, thus contributing to further strengthening the Vietnam-China relations ahead of the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties (1950-2025).

Currently, Hai Phong hosts 405 projects from China, with registered investment captital totaling $6.14 billion. Besides, annual average export revenue from Chinese firms in Hai Phong stood at $5.34 billion.  Approximately 58,000 workers have been employed by the firms.
