The northern port city of Hai Phong plans to start construction of a section of the Ring Road No.2 in November.

The 11-km Tan Vu-Hung Dao-Bui Vien route runs through Hai An, Duong Kinh and Kien An district.

The project has an estimated investment capital of over VND7.43 trillion ($296.7 million).

Under the project, a road section from provincial road No.353 and Hung Dao ward, a 1.1-km bridge crossing Lach Tray river and a flyover crossing Bui Vien intersection will be built.

The project aims to complete the urban infrastructure framework of the city, contributing to developing modern urban areas in an effort to lure domestic and foreign investment for socio-economic development.

It will also accommodate container trucks to avoid traffic jams, reduce traffic accident risks and environmental pollution in the downtown area.

Once put into operation, the route will shorten the travel time from the Hai Phong port cluster to other localities.
