Bringing together leaders from the plastics, printing, and packaging industries to promote technological innovation and assist business development, HanoiPlasPrintPack 2023 - the 11th Hanoi International Plastics, Rubber, Printing & Packaging Industry Exhibition - opened on June 8 in Hanoi.

Vietnam’s plastics industry has become a significant contributor to the economy, serving diverse sectors such as packaging, consumer goods, electronics, automotive, aviation, textiles, and agriculture. With increased investment, Vietnam has established itself as a production base for plastic products, catering to major import markets.

The exhibition is therefore a place where industry professionals can see firsthand the dynamic and innovative strides taken by Vietnam’s plastics industry.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Mr. Hoang Quang Phong, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said that along with the development of the domestic manufacturing industry, the plastics, packaging, and printing industries have also recorded rapid growth and is a supporting industry with great potential that increasingly requires products with high technology and modern production and management processes to increase competition in the market.

“This will be an important trade promotion activity helping investors continue to find partners and markets, and create conditions for domestic manufacturers to access advanced technology, techniques, and services in order to improve the quality and competitiveness of Vietnamese industrial products in the process of deep integration into the international economy,” Mr. Phong added.

According to Mr. Ho Duc Lam, Chairman of the Vietnam Plastics Association, the plastics industry has grown strongly in recent years with an average growth rate of 10-12 per cent a year. However, growth in Vietnam’s plastics industry has been showing signs of slowing since the beginning of 2023 due to the worldwide economic recession in general and the persistent impact of Covid-19 in particular.

“With the general trend in the world and in Vietnam towards developing the circular economy, the government will soon have a policy to promote collection, recycling, and reuse in order to minimize natural resources use and reduce plastic waste into the environment, as stipulated in the Law on Environmental Protection issued in 2020,” Mr. Lam said. “This will contribute to increasing investment in new machinery and technology to serve market demand, creating opportunities for suppliers of new machinery and materials in the future.”

Organized by Vinexad, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in cooperation with Yorkers Exhibition Service Vietnam, HanoiPlasPrintPack will take place from June 8 to 11.

The exhibition is set to showcase an impressive lineup of 220 exhibitors in 340 booths across an exhibition area of 8,000 sq m. Representing diverse countries and territories, including Belgium, China, Hong Kong (China), India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan (China), Thailand, the UK, and Vietnam, exhibitors will showcase up-to-date machinery, equipment, and advanced technology solutions.

Ms. Judy Wang, President of Yorkers, expressed her anticipation of the upcoming HanoiPlasPrintPack. “The growth of Vietnam’s plastics industry has been truly impressive, with plastic product production reaching 11.2 million tons in 2022,” she said. “This represents a remarkable 12.5 per cent increase compared to the previous year. At the exhibition, we invite you to seize this valuable opportunity to enhance your equipment capacity and uncover a wealth of new business opportunities.”

Workshops will also be held within the framework of the exhibition, giving businesses the opportunity to build valuable connections and better understand the future of the plastics, printing, and packaging industries.
