HCM City enjoys significant economic growth in 1H
GRDP up 6.46%, the higest in the last three years.
Ho Chi Minh City recorded significant economic growth in the first half of 2024 with the GRDP soaring 6.46% year-on-year, the highest rate in the last three years, according to the city’s Statistics Office.
The figure is higher than the national average of 6.42%.
Of which, the trade and services sector surged 7.26%, making the largest contribution to the city’s GRDP growth with 4.34 percentage point. It was followed by the industry and construction sector with 5.55%; and agriculture with 0.18%.
The city’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 56% compared to the same period last year and the highest growth since 2022.
The total retail sales of consumer goods and services increased 10% year-on-year. Of which, retail sales of consumer goods rose 10.2%.
