Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade has announced that businesses have allocated approximately VND23 trillion ($904.7 million) in capital to prepare for the coming Tet (Lunar New Year) 2025, including VND8 trillion (nearly $314.7 million) for food and groceries.
The department has also coordinated the establishment of 11,000 sales points to serve the price stabilization program. The mobile sales program for market stabilization during Tet 2025 will run from December 10, 2024, to January 5, 2025. A special feature of this program is that goods will be sold at lower prices, with discounts of up to 60% for laborers.
Accordingly, products for the Tet season such as confectionery, beverages, laundry detergent, shower gel, shampoo, chicken eggs, bird's nests, vegetarian noodles, candies, nutritional drinks, motorcycle oil, gas stoves, etc., will all be sold with discounts of up to 60%, buy-one-get-one-free offers, and complimentary gifts.
The program is expected to reach approximately 500,000 people, attracting over 100,000 visitors and 50,000 transactions.
According to business households, purchasing power during the Tet 2025 in the southern city could increase by over 10% compared to the same period last year, and significant price fluctuations are unlikely.
To boost shopping during Tet, many businesses and retail channels have begun implementing promotional programs.
Meanwhile, e-commerce platforms such as Tiki, Lazada, Sendo, and Shopee are also preparing their infrastructure for the Tet trading season. Supermarket and store chains have prepared sales methods through websites, social networks like Facebook and Zalo, and e-commerce platforms; they are continuously updating daily promotions and discounts to attract customers.
