HCMC sets metro ticket prices

Prices calculated based on distance for single trips or available in daily or monthly passes.

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has announced the ticket pricing structure for the city’s Metro Line No. 1, with tickets calculated based on travel distance for single trips or as daily or monthly passes.

Single-trip tickets will range from VND7,000 (27 US cents) to VND20,000 (78 US cents) for cash payments, depending on the distance travelled. For non-cash payments, prices range from VND6,000 to VND19,000.

Time-based tickets are also available, with a one-day pass priced at VND40,000 ($1.6) per person for unlimited trips within a day, and a three-day pass costing VND90,000 ($3.5) per person.

Monthly passes are also available, at VND300,000 ($11.7) for regular passengers and VND150,000 ($5.8) for students, both allowing unlimited travel throughout the month. All tickets include personal accident insurance coverage for passengers using the metro service.

Beginning January 1, 2025, certain groups will be eligible for free travel, including individuals having made revolutionary contributions, people with disabilities, senior citizens over 60, and children under six when accompanied by an adult.

The metro line runs for 19.7 km between Ben Thanh Station in District 1 and Suoi Tien Depot in Thu Duc city. It has 14 stations, including eleven elevated and three underground.

It has a maximum speed of 110 km/h on elevated sections and 80 km/h on underground sections.

The line is the first of eight planned for the southern city, and has total investment of VND43.7 trillion ($1.82 billion).
