HCMC to eliminate ‘slums’

In the renovation and urban development plan of Ho Chi Minh City for the 2021-2025 period, the city’s Department of Construction has set a target of relocating 6,500 houses on and along canals, at a total estimated investment cost of VND19.2 trillion ($840 million), of which VND9 trillion ($397 million) is expected to be used to relocate households living on and along the south bank of Kenh Doi in District 8.
