ICT industry expected to grow more strongly

The industry aims to achieve a revenue of VND4.32 quadrillion (about $169 billion) by 2025, contribute over 12% to GDP, and increase the proportion of Vietnamese value from 32% to 50% by 2030.

Driven by increased investment in new technologies (AI, big data, Blockchain, etc.), green technologies, and policies supporting businesses under the Politburo’s Resolution 57, Vietnam's information and communication technology industry (ICT) is expected to continue its strong growth.

The industry aims to achieve a revenue of VND4.32 quadrillion (about $169 billion) by 2025, contribute over 12% to GDP, and increase the proportion of Vietnamese value from 32% to 50% by 2030.

This information was released by the Vietnam Software & IT Services Association (VINASA) at a press conference on February 27,  announcing the TOP 10 Program and the Vietnam Digital Technology Enterprise Map 2025.

VINASA reported that in 2024, the total revenue of the ICT industry was estimated at over VND4.24 quadrillion (over $166 billion), an increase of 13.2% compared to 2023. Of this, the digital technology sector contributed nearly VND3.88 quadrillion (over $151.7 billion), accounting for over 91% of the total and 11% of GDP. The total number of digital technology enterprises operating in Vietnam reached 54,500, an increase of 16% compared to the previous year.

Notably, the export value of hardware and electronics was estimated at $132.3 billion, an increase of 11.6% compared to 2023, accounting for 32% of the total value of the country's  international merchandise exports.

Mr. An Ngọc Thao, Deputy Secretary-General of VINASA, stated that according to VINASA statistics, Vietnam currently has more than 20 digital technology companies with a workforce of 1,000 or more employees each, and even more companies with 500 to under 1,000 engineers each.
