Information and communications revenue hits $78.5 bln in 1H
Digital economy accounting for 18.3% of GDP. in the period.
Vietnam’s information and communications sector earned revenue of more than VND2 quadrillion ($78.5 billion) in the first six months of the year, soaring 24.5% compared to the same period of 2023, figures from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) show.
The sector contributed over VND467 trillion ($18.34 billion) to the country’s GDP, up 19.5% year-on-year.
Total employees in the sector stood at over 1.53 million, a year-on-year rise of 1.5%.
The MIC also reported that the digital economy of Vietnam accounted for 18.3% of the country’s GDP during the six-month period, surging 22.4% year-on-year.
With this achievement, Vietnam is likely to fulfill the target of increasing the proportion of the digital economy to 25% of the GDP by 2025, according to the MIC.
