NA Chairman: Entrepreneurs a driving force in economic development
On the occasion of Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day on October 13, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue heard recommendations from representatives of the business community on solutions to help businesses recover production and business following Covid-19.
Existing laws and regulations prove the government’s supportive attitude towards the business community, but there remain certain flaws in operations, business representatives told a meeting between National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the business community during a visit to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry to mark Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day on October 13.
There are still many documents and laws that overlap, affecting the resources of enterprises, said Mr. Chu Tien Dung, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association, so the NA should remove any problematic terms. He also suggested that the NA develop a Law on Fiscal Policy, creating the conditions for businesses to access capital, and extend or delay tax repayments for up to two years.
The government has decided to live with Covid-19 in a safe, adaptive, and effective manner, so there ought to be an open mechanism. But anti-pandemic regulations and policies from localities are not synchronized, which poses problems for businesses, said Ms. Ha Thu Thanh, Chairperson of Deloitte Vietnam. “The government should apply a synchronized monitoring mechanism so that businesses can resume disrupted supply chains, value chains, and sources of labor,” she added.
Mr. Dang The Phuong, Vice President of the Hai Phong Transport Association, said the State’s support policy for employees is a positive, but some policies are difficult to access. He therefore recommended quickly amending conditions so that businesses can access them as soon as possible.
Listening to recommendations from entrepreneurs, Mr. Hue shared the difficulties they have faced in recent times. He affirmed that the entrepreneurial community plays an important role as the main driving force of socio-economic development. The government and the NA also asked businesses to offer suggestions regarding certain problems.
