National OCOP program recognizes 28 new 5-star products
Some 5-star OCOP products set to be selected to bring to supermarket systems in the United States.
The Central Council for OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification has recognized an additional 28 products with the prestigious 5-star OCOP certification at the national level.
These newly recognized products include 21 food items, two medicinal products, two tourism offerings, two beverages, and one handicraft item.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the number of OCOP products nationwide that have achieved 3 stars or higher has now reached 14,642, an increase of 3,586 products compared to the end of 2023. These products belong to 8,086 OCOP entities and include 79 newly certified 5-star national OCOP products and 9 re-certified ones.
"OCOP products are regional specialties that not only enhance the value of agricultural products but also contribute to the overall development of their production localities. OCOP products have also started reaching international markets, with many production facilities actively registering and adjusting their products to meet international standards,” said Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development plans to select some 5-star OCOP products to bring to supermarket systems in the United States," said Mr. Nam.
