National Workshop on Digital Government opens in Da Nang

A national workshop on digital government, co-organized by central Da Nang city's Department of Information and Communications, the International Data Group (IDG) Vietnam, the Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA), and related units, opened on October 25.
The 19th annual event was attended by around 300 delegates, including leaders from local and central government agencies and technology experts to discuss investment policies, and propose initiatives and solutions for comprehensive information technology development, thereby promoting the e-government development in the central city.
The workshop featured a discussion within the theme "Da Nang - Green and Sustainable City: Trade Investment and Development Opportunities in the New Era"; and two thematic sessions: "The Importance and Effectiveness of Pioneering Leaders in Digital Transformation" and "Digitalizing Education: Exploiting Data and Creating Sustainable Values."
Addressing the event, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi said that Da Nang has prioritized developing and applying information technology. The city has put into use the e-government system since 2014.
As a result, according to the Vice Chairwoman, the digital economy of Da Nang is developing rapidly and contributing significantly to the city's GRDP. In 2023, the digital economy accounted for 20.7% of GRDP (exceeding the 2025 target of 20%). The city had, on average, 2.3 digital technology businesses for every 1,000 people (3 times higher than the national average).
