PM asks for development of logistics services for farm produce
Improvements aimed at boosting agricultural consumption and exports.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed a decree on February 6 requiring relevant ministries, agencies, and localities to carry out tasks on enhancing logistics connections to increase the consumption and export of agriculture, forestry and fisheries products, the Government News has reported.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) was instructed to coordinate with relevant ministries to urgently complete and submit to the Prime Minister for approval the master plan on developing the logistics service system, to improve the quality and competitiveness of Vietnamese farm produce by 2030 with a vision to 2050.
MARD will coordinate with localities to review and supplement planning for the development of logistics service centers for agricultural products, and coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize training on knowledge and capacity relating to logistics, supply chains, and agricultural logistics chains for enterprises and cooperatives operating in the field of agriculture.
The Minister of Industry and Trade was assigned to boost trade promotion activities and cooperation in logistics services and provide greater support for enterprise to build supply chains for farm produce in connection with logistics services for the international market.
Meanwhile, he asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to review and allocate transport infrastructure development capital for logistics centers for agricultural products, and asked it to propose policies to attract domestic and foreign investment in developing logistics services and building infrastructure for agricultural products.
He assigned the Ministry of Finance to boost administrative procedure reform and modernize the customs procedure system to facilitate agricultural trading activities.
The Ministry of Transport was required to give priority to building and upgrading the transport network in connection with the logistics service system for agricultural products, and to support the development of agricultural supply chains via roads, waterways, railways and airways to help save transport and logistics costs.
