PM asks that US restrict anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese exports

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has proposed that the US restrict the imposition of anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties as well as other unnecessary measures on Vietnamese exports, particularly farm produce and wooden products, which have a direct impact on employment and local livelihoods.

He made the suggestion at a reception for US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Hanoi on April 15.

The Prime Minister stressed that Vietnam considers the US one of its leading partners and wishes to promote the comprehensive partnership on the basis of respect for each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political institutions.

He said the two sides need to continue efforts in promoting harmonious and sustainable trade exchange.

The government leader proposed that the US continue to support cooperation between the two countries in important fields such as trade and investment, science and technology, education and training, the digital economy, green transition, the circular economy, innovation, climate change response, and infrastructure development.

For his part, Mr. Blinken said the US attaches importance to relations with Vietnam and there remains ample space for cooperation.
