PM calls for faster construction of Mekong Delta bridge

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked relevant agencies to speed up construction of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge in the Mekong Delta, which connects the two banks of the Tien River and links Ben Tre and Tien Giang provinces, while inspecting the project on February 15.

He called upon local authorities and agencies to quickly process resettlement and compensation work to stabilize the lives of those citizens affected, on the basis of balanced interests between the State, the people, and businesses.

With total investment of over VND5.17 trillion ($218.88 million) from the central budget, the project began in March 2022 and is scheduled to be completed in early 2026.

Prime Minister Chinh also examined a coastal road project linking Ben Tre, Tien Giang, and Tra Vinh provinces. It has total investment of some VND28.5 trillion ($1.2 billion).
