PM calls for transport projects to ensure quality and progress
Investors and project management boards asked to take full responsibility for project implementation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked relevant agencies and units to ensure quality and progress, prevent cost increases and corruption, and guarantee social security for workers and affected residents when implementing key transport projects.
He made the direction following his recent tour to inspect the implementation of key projects in the transport sector.
Measures are needed to promptly deal with emerging problems during implementation, he said.
The government leader asked investors and project management boards to take full responsibility for their projects and to select contractors transparently in line with regulations.
He pointed to the need to have policies to encourage social resources in infrastructure development, as a number of transport projects invested in the form of public-private-partnerships (PPPs) have been quickly and effectively implemented thanks to the application of science and technology and advanced techniques.
Key transport projects now underway include the construction of the Eastern North-South Expressway, ring roads in the Hanoi Capital Region, ring roads in Ho Chi Minh City, and expressways connecting localities in the northwestern region, the central highlands, and the Mekong Delta.
