PM Chinh meets with Chinese top leader on sidelines of BRICS+ Summit

PM Chinh reaffirmed Vietnam's dedication to collaborating with BRICS members to address global peace and development issues.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, on October 23, the Government News reported.

PM Chinh extended congratulations to China on its significant achievements over the past 75 years, since the establishment of the People's Republic of China. He reiterated Vietnam's unwavering commitment to strengthening relations with China, calling it a strategic priority in its foreign policy.

Highlighting China's contributions to the BRICS mechanism, Prime Minister Chinh reaffirmed Vietnam's dedication to collaborating with BRICS members to address global peace and development issues.

He emphasized the continued development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and China, emphasizing the need for continued high-level engagement and expanded cooperation across various sectors, particularly in transportation infrastructure.

Specifically, Vietnamese Government leader advocated for accelerating the implementation of three standard gauge, high-speed railway projects connecting Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong, Lang Son-Ha Noi, and Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hai Phong, further strengthening economic connectivity between the two nations.

He also suggested joint initiatives to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange Year in 2025.

President Xi Jinping reciprocated PM Chinh's greetings, extending congratulations to General Secretary To Lam and other Vietnamese leaders.

He lauded Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development and expressed satisfaction with the deepening and substantive nature of bilateral relations.

Echoing the "Four Goods" spirit and the shared high-level understanding, President Xi emphasized his commitment to strengthening strategic exchanges and deepening cooperation with Vietnam, aiming to further elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the Vietnam-China Community with a shared future towards a more effective manner.

To enhance connectivity, President Xi pledged to direct relevant Chinese agencies to promote transportation infrastructure development between the two countries.
