Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Mr. Christopher Klein, Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy, and a number of major enterprises and investors with global supply chains in Vietnam on September 4.

He affirmed that the government wishes to continue to develop the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US. The government will continue to listen to proposals and recommendations from US businesses and stands ready to respond to such recommendations if conditions permit.

Based on reports from representatives of a number of US businesses on their operations in Vietnam and the difficulties many still face, Prime Minister Chinh asked the heads of localities, ministries, and branches to continue to listen, resolve difficulties and problems quickly, and introduce measures to support foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) in particular and the business community and investors in general during this difficult period. The production and supply chains of FIEs and also jobs will then be guaranteed. Moreover, authorities will regulate the number of vaccines for experts and workers at FIEs around the country.

The Prime Minister also suggested that FIEs actively coordinate with ministries, branches, and localities to effectively implement pandemic prevention measures while maintaining and boosting production and business activities. Businesses should also continue to provide comments to the government to help local enterprises invest in the US.

In response, Mr. Klein and representatives from US businesses expressed their appreciation of the support from the Prime Minister, ministries, branches, and localities in facilitating FIEs in Vietnam and helping them overcome the current difficulties. He also affirmed his desire to continue promoting and further developing investment and business activities in Vietnam.
