PM Pham Minh Chinh receives Russian Rosatom's Director General
The PM expressed hope that Russia and Rosatom would continue to support Vietnam in developing nuclear power for peaceful purposes.
During a reception in Hanoi on January 13 for Mr. Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized Vietnam's commitment to its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia, highlighting the potential for nuclear energy cooperation for peaceful purposes and space research.
The Government News quoted the PM as stating that he highly appreciates Russia's support in training Vietnamese scientists and experts in nuclear energy, designing and operating the Da Lat Nuclear Reactor, developing the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, and supplying radioactive pharmaceuticals for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The PM expressed his hope that Russia and Rosatom would continue to support Vietnam in developing nuclear power and advancing nuclear science and technology for peaceful purposes, contributing to the country's socio-economic development.
He urged Russia and Rosatom to assist Vietnam in human resource training and technology transfer to bolster the country's nuclear technology sector.
Mr. Likhachev, for his part, affirmed Rosatom's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Vietnam and implementing high-level agreements between the two nations.
He stated that Rosatom is ready to collaborate with Vietnam in building nuclear power plants, establishing a modern nuclear center, transferring technology, localizing nuclear products, and developing nuclear science and industry with a long-term vision.
