PM requests to accelerate social housing projects
The move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of social housing development and meet people's demands.
In his Official Dispatch No.30/CD-TTg, dated December 10, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested relevant ministries, agencies and localities to remove obstacles to accelerate social housing projects with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of social housing development while meeting growing housing demands of people.
They were required to promote administrative reforms, particularly in simplifying procedures relating to site clearance, construction investment and choosing investors for social housing projects to create conditions for enterprises to join projects and help people get better access to social houses.
The PM asked Chairpersons of People’s Committees of localities to strictly adhere to regulations mandating land allocation for workers' housing in industrial parks and reserving 20% of residential land with completed technical infrastructure in commercial and urban projects for social housing development.
They were instructed to focus on implementing the national plan to build at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and industrial workers during the 2021–2030 period.
Regarding financial sources for social housing development, the PM asked the State Bank of Vietnam to work with relevant ministries and agencies to speed up the disbursement of the VND120 trillion ($4.7 billion) credit package for social housing and worker housing development.
