Quang Ninh set to open modern passenger port

Northern Quang Ninh province plans to put Ao Tien Port, a specialized passenger port for sightseeing tourism, into operation next month.

It has five wharves that can berth 300-seat vessels and accommodate 150 tourist boats.

Construction of the port, on nearly 30 ha, received total investment of more than VND600 billion ($25.3 million).

The modern port complex integrates many utilities and is designed under green space principles.

It has a designed capacity of 2.6 million passengers a year during the 2020-2025 period and 3.2 million passengers a year during 2025-2030.

Quang Ninh has set a target of welcoming 15.5 million tourists by 2025, including at least 5 million foreigners. The figure is expected to rise to 24.5 million, including 8.6 million foreigners, by 2030.
