Quang Tri speeds up site clearance for airport project

Authorities of central Quang Tri province have requested relevant agencies, investor and contractors to speed up site clearance to accelerate the Quang Tri airport project.

The projected airport, covering more than 265 ha in Gio Linh district, has investment capital estimated at more than VND5.8 trillion (nearly $227 million).

So far, over 140.5ha of land have been handed over to the investor.

Quang Tri Airport will be a Level 4C one, according to the classifications of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and can cater to Code E aircraft, serve 5 million passengers and handle 25,500 tons of cargo annually.

Construction of the project kicked off in July this year and the airport is scheduled to be put into operation in July, 2026.
